It had been quite a long time since Zika's icey hues had gazed upon the vast landscape of Aries Points. Once she had ruled and watched over these lands and the mighty wolf pack that had run freely through the whispy grass. That, however, was back when she'd been proud to call Shine Great her mother, before she had left the territory to start a better life with her pups and mate in Eclipse Valley, before Etoile had gone mad and changed into the monster Takai. Was it destiny that had brought her back to her birthplace?
A soft breeze passing over the mound of earth in which Zika stood, ruffled her dark fur. Strands of grey and black were pushed this way and that, grabbing hold of her scent and spreading it throughout the area. Her presence would be known by the remaining wolves of the pack soon, though Zika new there were few left. The pack was dwindleing and there was no alpha to be found. Faint traces of Shine filled her keen nostrals, but Zika could tell it had been a good while since Shine had been in the lands. She also picked up the slight trace of Ziko Byrne, but it was almost as faint as Shine's.
"Aries point, land of my birth," Zika said softly, gazing down upon the land she knew so well, "What has Shine done to you? Once, the forests and meadows were full of bustling wolven activity. Pups played in the dens while their mothers rested. Females and brutes chased each other through the soft grass. What has happened?. I see none of this."
The large female sadly shook her head, "Again, Shine has lead the pack to ruin. She's abandoned the pack for a second time, just like she did when I was still so young, and hardly ready to be a leader. The pack was foolish to have accepted that she-devil as alpha a second time. Her tongue spits lies and her eyes overflow with deceit. Trusting Shine is like trusting an armed poacher."
Small yips and growls arose from behind Zika, making her ears twitch slightly. She turned her head to see her two small pups scuffling on the ground. Zoku, the oldest of the two, held the nape of his younger brothers neck in his jaws. His tail swayed wildly in the air. Zike, on the other hand, desperatly scrambled and pawed at his attacker, wanting to be reliesed. The sight made a grin form across Zika's maw.
Those pups were all she had now. She had left Eclipse Valley for their sake. If she had stayed, she risked the chance of Takai or the other ruthless beats killing her offspring. She hadn't been about to let that happen. Losing Etoile had been hard, but to lose her precious sons would be unbearable. Now, her pups were the only thing stopping her from running down the grassy slope to inspect further the damages done to her homeland.
She wanted her pups to be safe. Aries Point had always been a rather hostile place, even when she had been in charge. Zika wanted her pups to be raised in an environment where they would be safe, and she didn't think Aries Point would be best for them.
Taking one last look at the land, the dark gray female turned her back it. She knew she may never see it again, but she was willing to leave the land behind for her sons. A rumble from deep within her throat signaled that it was time to go and, the two whelps jumped up excitedly. They raced around her feet as she began to move forward, towards a place unknown.
